SEKIGUCHI NECKLACE

A sculptural study in organic form from the PLAID-À-PORTER × LüSchwarz collaboration.

Sekiguchi is an ode to the raw, irregular beauty of the freshwater Keshi pearl. Strung in a deliberately restrained composition, the necklace brings together generously proportioned pearls measuring approximately 15–20 mm, each with its own naturally formed silhouette, surface and luminous character.

Unlike perfectly spherical pearls, Keshi pearls are defined by their organic irregularity. Their surfaces catch the light unpredictably, creating a tactile, almost mineral-like quality that gives the necklace its distinctive presence.

A considered brass clasp completes the composition, introducing a warm, understated counterpoint to the cool luminosity of the pearls.

At 40 cm in length, Sekiguchi sits close to the neckline, allowing the natural forms of the pearls to become the centre of attention. The result is less traditional pearl jewellery than a contemporary sculptural object—quietly unconventional, tactile and inherently singular.

No two Keshi pearls are alike. Each necklace therefore carries its own constellation of shapes, textures and subtle variations, making every piece unique.
